The holiday season has arrived and there are tons of things to do in Detroit this weekend. Science geeks, museum freaks, savvy shoppers and anyone who wants to get into the spirit of the holiday will all find plenty to do. Get out there and enjoy Detroit!
1. Dossin Great Lakes Museum - This weekend is your last chance to visit the maritime museum on Belle Isle for a few months. After this weekend, the museum will be closed for 5 months for renovations and to install a new exhibit. Free! December 1—2.
2. Detroit Urban Craft Fair - Head to the Masonic Temple to find unique, handmade and crafty gifts. Over 100 vendors and admission is only $1! December 1—2.
3. Holiday Nights in Greenfield Village - Step back in time and experience the holidays of olden times. Entertainment, candlelit paths, live reindeer, costumed characters and more! December 1, 7—8, 14—16, 18—23, 26—27.
4. Noel Night - Midtown is the place to be on Saturday night! Cultural Institutions will be open and free, horse-drawn carriage rides, shopping, entertainment and a community sing-a-long. December 1st.
5. Michigan Science Center (Link to PDF, MSC is #38) - Formerly the Detroit Science Center, the hands-on and educational museum will be open for Noel Night and an announcement is expected soon that it will be reopening for good! December 1st.
