1. 2013 Michigan Renaissance Festival - Travel back in time to the 16th century and enjoy jousting, food, entertainment—and most importantly—MEAT ON A STICK! This weekend features a Highland Fling. Weekends through September 29th.

2. You and Whose Army? - This one night pop-up gallery exhibition includes tons of artists plus food, music and wine. August 23rd.

3. Jazz Fest Bar Tour - Gear up for the Jazz Fest by going on a tour with the good people from D:hive Detroit starting at Cliff Bell's. It's practically free! August 24th.

4. Brew Detroit - Head over to the beautiful Fillmore for beer tasting and gourmet food featuring Brewery Vivant, New Belgium Brewing, Frankenmuth Brewery and many more. August 24th.

5. Birmingham Bike Festival - Celebrate cycling at this one-day family-friendly event that includes a race, vendors and more. August 25th.

1. 2013 Woodward Dream Cruise - The world's largest one-day celebration of car culture rolls down Woodward Avenue this weekend. Muscle cars, customs, street rods and collector cars—and the odd minivan—will all be cruising down the avenue. August 17th.

2. Belle Isle Summer Saturdays - Head to our beautiful island park for yoga classes, food trucks, kayak rentals, bike rentals, painting classes and game rentals at Sunset Point. August 17th.

3. Downtown Detroit Days - Get your shopping on in Downtown Detroit—a marketplace highlighting Detroit brands, artisans, food vendors and Tashmoo Biergarten! August 16—18.

4. 31st Annual African World Festival - The Wright Museum plays host to this fest featuring entertainment, art, African Folklife Village, ethnic food and WORLD'S LARGEST HUSTLE DANCE! August 16—18.

5. Copper & Clay brunch - Enjoy a strolling brunch and drinks at Pewabic Pottery! The event is held at Pewabic's National Historic Landmark building. August 18th.

1. Detroit Caribbean Cultural Festival - Ketch di feva! New Center Park will be filled with the sounds and flavor of the Caribbean this weekend. August 9—11.

2. Ribs and R & B Music Festival - Hart Plaza and the Riverfront play host to this celebration of food and music. August 9—11.

3. Sweetest Heart of Mary Pierogi Festival - The 31st annual fest in Eastern Market features Polish food including Pierogi (obviously), City Chicken, golabki, and potato pancakes. Entertainment, games, and family fun. August 10—11.

4. Explore Detroit - The Dhive and the Google Field Trip app join forces to bring you a free walking tour, scavenger hunt and open house. August 10th.

5. Green Cruise - Keep yourself and the planet healthy at this celebration of human-powered transit. Be sure to stop by the Shinola tent to meet their bike team and taste Shinola Cola. August 10th.

1. Rockin' on the Riverfront - Once bitten, twice shy: This week's edition of the free summer concert series features L.A. hard rockers Great White. August 2nd.

2. Buy Michigan Now Festival - Now in its fifth year, this fest in downtown Northville celebrates Michigan-based businesses and Michigan-made products. There will also be a Michigan wine and beer garden and entertainment. August 2—4.

3. Science Rocks! - Head to the Michigan Science Center for an after hours party and check out their newest exhibit, The Science of Rock 'n' Roll. Plus live music, a cash bar, laser magic shows and a Guitar Hero competition. August 2nd.

4. Sidewalk Festival of Performing Arts - The gardens and courtyards of Artist Village Detroit plays host to the outdoor festival featuring site-specific performance and installation art. August 3rd.

5. The Story of Willow Run - This 1945 black and white documentary explores the Willow Run B-24 Bomber Plant that was conceived by Henry Ford. August 3—4.

1. Nerd it. Build it. Make it. Wire it. Smash it. Glue it. Hacknologic - This Nerd Night 313 & Maker Faire mashup features Ted Hansen, John Ackley, Will Brick and knife fighting robot automatons! July 25th.

2. July Summer Market - Head to Campus Martius for food trucks, music, vintage & antique dealers, drinks and games. July 26—27.

3. Maker Faire Detroit - The Henry Ford plays host again to one of the coolest summer festivals. Over 400 makers will be onsite showing off their wares, ideas and inventions. July 27—28.

4. Oakaloosa '13 - The newest music festival in town takes place at the Historic Fort Wayne and a portion of the proceeds will go to its restoration. July 27th.

5. Henry Ford's 150th Birthday Party - This FREE party includes an automotive display, music and dancing, a food truck rally, Tashmoo Biergarten, and birthday cake! July 27th.
