Detroit Moxie's Weekend Roundup

Only 8 shopping days till Christmas! I’m sure many of you are done shopping and can enjoy the weekend. Me? I haven’t started, haven’t bought one present yet. However, I still plan on going to see Mayer Hawthorne on Saturday. Shopping is more festive on Christmas Eve anyway. Right?

Weekend Roundup

1. Mayer Hawthorne at the Magic Stick - I already gushed about this soulful singer this week but this is where I'll be on Saturday. December 19.

2. A Christmas Story at the Redford Theatre - Watch as Ralphie tries to convince everyone that a Red Ryder BB gun is the perfect Christmas present. This classic movie house still has its original pipe organ. December 18-19.

3. Stroll Through the Conservatory - The Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory on Belle Isle will be lighted and decorated for the season. A unique opportunity to experience the Conservatory at night. December 18.

4. Target Family Sundays at the DIA - Storyteller Judy Sima shares Hanukah stories plus kids can create their own luminaries and pencil drawings. December 20.

5. Meadow Brook Hall Holiday Walk - Journey back in time and wander through the estate including the Ballroom and Great Hall. Through December 23.

Do you know of a great event going in on Metro Detroit this weekend? Add it to the comments and share it with us!

We're planning to go back up to the Big Bright Light Show in Rochester to take pix of the dancing snowflakes :)
And, yes, I still have a little shopping and a post office trip to do yet!

Dominique,
I'd really like to get back the the Big Bright Light Show, we went when we were celebrating the husbands birthday. It was very cold & I didn't want to bore him while I snapped pictures so I only took a few.

So I'm on the phone with my sister-in-law last night, trying to decided what we can do when we get all tour boys together today. "Something festive," we agree.

The first thing I thought of was Detroit Moxie. I love how you do this, Becks.

A Christmas Story at REDFORD THEATER? Awesome.

Hope you and the hubby have a great weekend, too, and thanks so much for your dedication toward are city.

Great list as usual.

In case folk don't know, that Red Ryder BB gun was made for years in Plymouth Michigan (Daisy moved to AR back in 1958). So the movie even has a link to Detroit.

Jen,
Thanks for stopping by. And, well, I'm blushing. I hope you and your family had a great time at the Redford Theatre watching A Christmas Story. You'll shoot your eye out, kid!

Tim,
I had no idea! Thank you, you know I love it when everything ties back to Detroit!.
