The View From The People Mover
This video of the Detroit People Mover was mainly shot in 2003, with some footage added after the new Renaissance Center station was completed. It's interesting to see how the landscape has changed in the last 6 years, some of the buildings are no longer there. I love the fisheye lense effect.
It would be great to have an updated video to compare the differences. The scenery of a city or area can change quite quickly, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. Personally, I think downtown Detroit is looking pretty good these days.
If I had a video camera I would give it a try myself. Have you been in downtown Detroit lately? What do you think of the progress?

I got dizzy watching that! Cool, though. It's been a long time since I've been on the People Mover. It used to be a handy way to get down to (then) Detroit Whalers' games at the Joe after dinner at Greektown...well, except for the time we got stranded after a game and had to walk back from the Joe to Greektown. That was an adventure!
Very cool. I had to go to every stop back in 1997 - 1998 for a humanities project. We had to write about the art work in every station. I took my mom with me for that project. I think a video with the stops would be better then being on the move.
Very cool!!!! I also liked the fisheye effect. The picture of the Fishbones ad makes me hungry, I WANT GUMBO
Dominique,
We take the People Mover quite often, although downtown is pretty walkable. The Joe to Greektown is a bit far! The video does have a dizzying effect and going backward and forward doesn't help.
Jamie,
That's a cool school project. We've looked at the art in most stations. I kind of liked the video being on the move, I just wish the windows of the People Mover were cleaner!
