Food Wars to Crown Detroit Coney Champ
The Detroit Coney Island hot dog war heats up again as the Travel Channel’s Food Wars airs this Wednesday, August 25 at 10:00 p.m. EDT. Camille Ford visits the neighboring Coney Islands and a winner will be revealed.
The long battle between American Coney Island and Lafayette Coney Island is well documented. I’ve talked about the Travel Channel’s “Man v. Food” stop in Detroit to taste test our rivaling coney dogs and I was witness to the Food Network’s “Food Feud” with Michael Symon.
But who will win Food Wars: Detroit?
I’ve seen the full segment and I know which coney dog the judges voted for, including Local 4 anchor Carmen Harlan. Yep, I know who won.
I have agreed to keep these details and the outcome confidential. Of course, I could be bribed by a coney dog or two from my favorite, Lafayette Coney Island. Just kidding.
For now, here’s a sneak peek at the Food Wars: Detroit episode:
Tune in to the Travel Channel on Wednesday at 10:00 p.m. to see who is crowned the winner.
Who serves up your favorite coney dog, American or Lafayette?

Is the Michael Symon "food feud" episode ever going to air? I've been wanting to see that one for a while.
Pretty sure this was actually a clue in the Lucido Diamond Dash..lol
Ryan,
It aired a while ago. You can actually see me and Andy in the background in some shots.
Bummer! I couldn't find any trace of it online or on their calendar. Hopefully it'll air again someday.
Ryan,
I looked online and couldn't find it either. The air date was tweeted quite a bit, it might have been when you were out of town. If I see that it's being re-aired I'll alert you!
Thanks for the heads up. I will watch this show although if American Coney Island beats Lafayette, I will eat my hat (assuming it is covered with chili, onions and mustard) with a Coke. For what it's worth, I had lunch today at Haney's Family Restaurant. They offer hot dogs served a variety of ways. I had the Chicago and a Detroiter. Both were good. http://bit.ly/cMLqEL
Howard,
You're welcome! I'm a Lafayette girl myself. Hope you don't have to eat your hat tomorrow, even if it is covered in glorious chili! I'll have to check out Haney's next time in that part of town.
I've committed to keep these specifics and the result private. Of course, a Coney dog or two from my preferred Lafayette Coney Island may be used as an incentive.
