Detroit Moxie's Weekend Roundup
Hello summer! I mean real “official” summer, not those weird Michigan days where it’s 80 degrees in March. Yeah, that happened this year.
So, let’s kick this summer off with a bang. The Detroit fireworks, officially known as the 54th Annual Target Fireworks, are this Monday, June 25th. Heading downtown? Don’t forget to check parking and street closure information before you go.
Get out there and enjoy all the cool things to do in Detroit!

Hi, I just stumbled onto your site because I'm a California girl enthralled with the prospect of some day visiting Michigan, as I have a lot of Dutch relatives there I've never met (Grand Rapids area), my neighbor is from the Upper Peninsula and speaks of it as if it is Heaven On Earth and I have friends-from-a-former-life who moved to Traverse City which I became even MORE interested in once I learned Carter Oosterhouse is from there (he makes me smile). Traverse City sounds like a magical kind of place (I doubt I could take the snow; I don't know what snow is). I'll come back here from time to time to catch up with your archives; enjoying photos and posts I've read so far (and yes I did catch the one of your visit to Carter's gorgeous "estate," neglecting to notice if it was before or after his wedding to the cute actress (remembering her from the "Felicity" TV series of the '90s), Amy Smart, which I believe occurred last year.
Hi Vicki!
Thanks for stopping by. Traverse City is absolutely lovely and I love the downtown area of Grand Rapids. The U.P., as we call it, is like an untouched universe. Granted, I haven't been there properly in ages.
The shoot at Carter's was just a few weeks before his wedding, maybe a month. I was there in mid August and he got married in September. Everyone was pretty surprised he let them shoot there so close to the wedding because it was taking place there too.
I hope you make it to Michigan soon. And I have to say Detroit is a pretty cool place too! :)
