Detroit Moxie's Weekend Roundup

I'm sad to be missing all the fun things to do in Detroit this weekend but I’m off to Grand Rapids for the Winter Beer Festival put on by the Michigan Brewer’s Guild. This much needed weekend away is one of my favorite winter events in Michigan. I highly recommend you try and grab some tickets for next year’s event, they sold out this year in record time.

Get out there and enjoy all the awesome things to do in Detroit!

Weekend Roundup

1. An Evening with Bettye LaVette - Head to the Detroit Public Library and listen to the soul singer talk about her new book, A Woman Like Me. February 21st. She's also performing at the Detroit Institute of Arts on February 22nd.

2. D:hive Underground Bar Tour - Tour downtown's “secret” and subterranean bars in honor of Detroit’s involvement in the Underground Railroad. First drink is included in the $5 ticket! February 23rd.

3. Incredible Journey to Midnight -  Speaking of tours and the Underground Railroad, Hometown History Tours retraces the steps of the Freedom Seekers including safe houses and other sites in Detroit. February 23rd.

4. Palmer Park Winter Fest -  Enjoy ice skating, carriage rides through the woods, entertainment, family-friendly activities and a doggie fashion show in this historic Detroit neighborhood. February 23rd.

5. Empty Bowls fundraiser for Gleaners Community Foodbank (Facebook link) - Purchase pottery bowls by Pewabic Pottery staff and local artists for $5-$25 and recieve a soup and bread lunch. February 23rd.
