1. Designing Tomorrow: America’s World’s Fairs of the 1930s - Head to The Henry Ford to explore 6 Depression-era world's fairs and the impact they had on the public. Over 150 artifacts are featured including
Elektro the Moto-Man robot. Through September 2nd.

2. Turtle Island - A parable inspired by the Native People of North America is brought to life with different types of puppets, masks and actors. May 11th.

3. The Rouge - Part of the Detroit Historical Societies montly film series, this documentary from 1997 tells the story of one of the most famous industrial workplaces ever. May 11—12.

4. Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum Walking Art Tour - Enjoy beautiful pieces of art from the Detroit Institute of Arts Inside|Out program along with other public art along the route. May 11—12

5. Charter One Free Family Second Sunday - If you've never been—or even if you have—this is a great opportunity to check out the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. May 12th.

Detroit Moxie's Weekend Roundup

Looks like we’re in store for a beautiful spring weekend in Detroit as everything begins to turn that awesome shade of green and buds start blooming. Of course that also means that festival season is revving up with the Polish Strawberry Festival. And I have to give a big shout to the Detroit Red Wings in the playoffs for the 22nd year in a row! Let's go Red Wings!

1. Metro Times Blowout 16 - Over 235 bands will play over 6 nights in Detroit, Hamtramck and Ferndale, showcasing the best local talent in the regional music scene. April 25—May 4.

2. Art in the Stations - Did you know that each People Mover station has unique art? Yep! Take a tour and learn about the art and artists. May 4th.

3. Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition - Head to the Detroit Zoo and check out 100 incredible photographic images of wildlife from 2012. May 4—September 8, 2013.

4. St. Florian Strawberry Festival - Hamtown is the place to be this weekend for Polkas, pierogies, strawberries, a tour of the church and more. The firefighters parade and mass is on Saturday. May 4—5.

5. Day Out With Thomas - Everyone's favorite choo-choo, Thomas the Tank Engine™, rolls into Greenfield Village for his annual visit. Storytelling, live music and Sir Topham Hatt™! May 4—5 & 11—12.

1. Nerd Nite 313: Level Up - Lessons from Dr. Seuss, human birth in the future and other fascinating topics will be discussed at this social event for nerds of all types. April 25th.

3. Detroit Critical Mass - Hop on two wheels and take a leisurely 2-hour bike ride around Detroit. All skill levels and ages are encouraged to participate. April 26th.

4. Michigan Modernism Exposition - Shop until you drop, mid-century modern style! Check out this expo featuring merchandise from up to 50 prominent modernism dealers from the USA, Canada and Europe including furniture, jewelry, art, fashion and more. April 26—28.

5. Belle Isle Conservancy's Annual Spring Clean Up - It's time to get your hands dirty and help clean up our beautiful island park. Tools/supplies provided plus hot dogs! April 27th

1. Culture Lab Detroit - A catalyst for collaborations between Detroit's artists, designers and technologists featuring designer and artist David Stark and Mark Binelli, a contributing editor of Rolling Stone. April 18th.

2. Detroit Pleasure Society + History of Detroit Jazz - On Record Store Day eve, head to Found Sound in Ferndale for a presentation by Jazz historian Jim Gallert and a performance by Dixieland band Detroit Pleasure Society. April 19th.

3. Detroit by Detroit III - 16 local bands are coming together at the Magic Stick to play a short set by another current Detroit artist. April 20th.

4. Whitdel Arts Family Day - Bring the little ones out to make and decorate origami boxes at this contemporary Detroit gallery. FREE! April 20th.

5. Day of Books and Roses - Head to the Ferndale Public Library for a day of culture featuring Michigan writers, books, wine, food and a dragon egg hunt for the kiddies. April 21st.

1. Art X Detroit 2013 - This five-day multidisciplinary celebration with events at over 15 Midtown and Downtown Detroit locations features public art, dance, music, special exhibitions and more. April 10—14.

2. The First Forty Years of Detroit Bicycling (1863-1903) - The Detroit Drunken Historical Society presents this talk by Todd Scott, the Detroit Greenway Coordinator, on the history of biking in the Motor City. April 11th.

3. Red Bull House of Art Gallery Opening - They're kicking off their 2013 season by unvieling the new batch of artists at the Eastern Market gallery. April 12th.

4. Historic Fort Wayne Flea Market - If you have never checked out this place, this is the perfect weekend to see what it's all about. Besides the antiques, collectibles and arts & crafts, they're offering guided tours for $3. April 13—14.
