1. 5th Annual Harvest Fest - Head to Chene Park for a free, family event featuring games, activities, entertainment and food for the kiddies. October 31st.

2. Steamboy - The Detroit Film Theatre is screening this steampunk animated action film directed by Katsuhiro Ohtomo. (The Disney classic Dumbo is screening earlier in the evening.) November 2nd.

3. Ghost & Goblin High Tea - The Whitney is serving a special kid-friendly high tea where costumes are encouraged. It's up to you whether or not you tell the little ones that the historic building is haunted! November 2nd.

4. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Solar System - Explore space and the Solar System at Dassault Systèmes Planetarium at the Michigan Science Center. November 2—3.

5. November Detroit SOUP - Enjoy a soup dinner, learn about creative projects in Detroit and vote on which project to fund. November 3rd.

1. Blake's Ciderhouse Grand Opening - One of the best cider mills in the area is now using it's apple aptitude to make hard cider! Taste the new brew while enjoying live music. October 24th.

2. 24 Hour Party People - Head to Great Lakes Coffee in Midtown for the opening reception of the newest photo exhibition by Karpov the Wrecked Train. Along with Anna Sysling, they documented the everyday people and sounds at Duly's Place, a 24 Hour Coney Island located in Southwest Detroit. October 25th.

3. Detroit Fall Beer Festival - Eastern Market plays host to the Michigan Brewer's Guild autumn event. Over
400 craft beers from over 50 Michigan breweries will be on tap. October 25—26 (tickets still available for the session on the 25th).

4. Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho - Catch this classic suspense thriller on the big screen at the beautiful Redford Theatre. Plus, a Woody Woodpecker short! October 25—26.

5. Treats in the Streets - Kiddos twelve and under can trick-or-treat at the Streets of Old Detroit exhibit at the Detroit Historical Museum. Refreshments, magic and crafts. October 27th.

1. Third Thursdays at Eastern Market - Stock up on pumpkins, corn stalks and other seasonal goodies in Shed 5. Plus, food trucks and local beer & hard cider tastings. October 17th.

2. Zoo Boo - Halloween isn't scary at this annual event at the Detroit Zoo. The little ones can trick-or-treat, play games and visit the Haunted Reptile House. October 18—20, 25—27.

3. Dr. Scream's Spook Show Revival - Head to the Lafayette Grande in downtown Pontiac for magic, ghosts, illusion and vintage horror movies. October 19th.

4. Etsy Pop-Up Shop - Over 15 members of the metro Detroit Etsy team are bringing their handmade wares to the Rust Belt Market in Ferndale. October 19th.

5. Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village - Go back in time to a turn-of-the-20th century style Hallowe'en with 1000 hand-carved pumpkins to light your way. October 18—20 & 25—27.

1. Dine Drink Detroit - Thirteen of Detroit's most interesting restaurants are offering up a special menu that includes at least one food item and a drink for $15! Restaurants include El Barzon, Green Dot Stables, Great Lakes Coffee and Ottava Via. October 10—16.

2. Three Stooges Festival - Nyuk! Nyuk! Nyuk! Head to the gorgeous Redford Theatre for American vaudeville at its finest with Larry, Curly, Moe and Shemp. October 11—12.

3. Detroit Derby Girls - Our favorite hometown skaters kick off their 2014 season with a bout featuring the D-Funk Allstars and the Pistolwhippers. October 12th.

4. Historic Fort Wayne Flea Market - If you have never checked out this place, this is the perfect weekend to see what it's all about. Besides the antiques, collectibles and arts & crafts, they're offering guided tours for $3. October 12—13.

1. Shinola Fright Night Fridays - Head to Detroit's hottest new retailer for a FREE screening of The Hunger, a classic vampire thriller starring David Bowie and Susan Sarandon. Plus, Shinola cola and popcorn will be served. October 4th.

2. The Science of Rock 'n' Roll - This interactive exhibit at the Michigan Science Center explores how science and technology influenced rock music. Through December 31st.

3. Evil Dead: The Musical - Sam Raimi's 80's cult classic takes the stage in musical fashion with all the blood and gore you'd expect. Through October 26th.

4. Great Lakes Chili Cookoff - The 18th annual event in downtown Plymouth features a motorcycle show, live bands, kids activities, food and vendor booths. October 6th.

5. Cranbrook Campus Tour - Fall is the perfect season to explore the architecture, landscape and sculptures on the grounds of this picturesque campus. October 6th.
