- Eastern Market announced yesterday that starting July 12th the popular market will be open on Tuesdays from 11am to 7pm. The weekday version will offer a smaller sampling of its usual Saturday fare.
- While at the Schwankovsky a few weeks ago for vitaminwater uncapped we noticed a martini glass in the sky. Seriously! The martini glass was situated on top of the David Stott Building and now we know why. The SkyBar recently opened on the ground floor of the building.
- The Catherine Ferguson Academy, an alternative high school for pregnant teens, is scheduled to close on June 17th. The school has a 90% graduation rate and is instrumental in turning these girls lives around and stopping the cycle of teenage pregnancy. A rally is scheduled for tomorrow, June 16th to save the school.
- More bad news on the food truck front in Detroit. Officials and antiquated laws are keeping them at bay. However, I did learn about a food truck that had previously not been on my radar. Follow Concrete Cuisine on Twitter and Facebook to find out their location du jour.
- The original Emancipation Proclamation document is on loan from the National Archives and available for viewing at The Henry Ford for a really limited time. The document will be on display from the evening of Monday, June 20th to the morning of Wednesday, June 22nd. The event runs around-the-clock and is free to the public. This is a unique opportunity and shouldn’t be missed.

I'll be honest, playing DCFL games at the fields at Belle Isle are some of the most fun days I have ever had. Please don't include me for the drawing because I'll be at a wedding that weekend. Would love to go but will be in North Carolina.
Thanks for the links!
Fave spot: Cliff Bell's
Thanks for giving us yet another reason to read and engage with Detroit Moxie!
I can't pick one! So this would be my best day: shopping with my daughter at Rachel's Place (resale) in Corktown, lunch at Las Brisas in SW Detroit, quick stop for guacamole at Honey Bee, Tiger Game, followed by dinner at Cass Cafe!
My favorite place in Detroit would be the Fox Theatre. I love attending any function at this beautiful venue.
Thanks for the opportunity.

I love Comerica Park. It's an amazing stadium. Gotta love our Tigers!!
Thank you.....

In love with Abick's neighborhood bar.
It's hard to pick one, but I'll go with Cliff Bell's. Thanks for the opportunity!
I love the Detroit Symphony, enjoy dinner at Traffic Jam or Slow's or Lupita's Taqueria.
Late night Fridays at Cafe D'Mongo's. Speakeasy feel with live music... all you need for a good time.
Everything in Detroit has a special flair or meaning that it makes it hard to pick just one...or maybe I'm just indecisive; however, here's a few of my favs:
Fav place = The Henry Ford
Fav place to eat = Good Girls Go to Paris
Fav after game bar = Coaches Corner
Fav bar = Woodbridge
Fav thing to do = walk around and discover hidden stores and restaurants, oh yea and learn my way around - I'm not embarrassed to admit I'm directionally challenged. :)
My favorite place in the city is Comerica Park. There is absolutely nothing like being there for a Tigers game. It's intoxicating. After the game? I love this little bar near Greektown, The Well. Great people, great times. Restaurant? Probaby Atlas or Iridescence. I love lots of things about Detroit...
You're a contest maven lately! ;)
I have so many favorite places in Detroit, but I'm going to go with Vincente's.
My favorite place in the city is Comerica Park - nothing beats a sunny Sunday afternoon at the ballpark.
I haven't been to all the great places in Detroit yet, but I have to say a Saturday morning at Eastern Market is my favorite!
John King Books!!! http://www.450detroit.com/
My Favorite Place in Detroit is Campus Martius. A nod also goes to the Corktown area, it's classic Detroit.
My favorite place would have to be Wayne State. If I had gone to UofM like I had originally planned, I would probably be just another one of those suburbanites who only ever ventures into the D for the occasional Tigers game, but going to school here has really turned me into quite the Detroit-o-phile.
These are all great, guys! Keep them coming!
Nikki,
I know! Detroit Moxie t-shirts, BRU Fest and Best of Detroit tickets. If someone offers me something that I KNOW my readers will love and find value in it's hard to turn them away.
I have always enjoyed Comerica Park. Nothing defines summer more than a Tigers game. I have always wanted to try Slows as well and hope to get to the restaurant soon!
I am totally digging Sunday Night Cinema in the Park at the Woodbridge Community Garden. But I totally want to check out the Walkintheatre too this summer! Oh, but I think my fav so far may have to be Critical Mass!
